Officials nullify Iowa State TD with horrible taunting penalty

What on earth did the reigning crew in Ames think about this play?
Iowa State's Xavier Hutchinson scored a 51-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the ISU game against Oklahoma State. Hutchinson beat his defender in the game and had a free run into the end zone. So he had a bit of fun when he drove to the goal line. Little bit. Not much. Little bit. But that little bit was too much for the staid crew who called the game. He was charged with unsportsmanlike conduct.
Take a look at this TD and comment below on whether Hutchinson took a 15 yard penalty.
College football and NFL officials have tried to crack down on players who taunt each other. And even if you agree that they should be tough - having fun is part of football - you cannot support the appeal here. It is an outrageous punishment. And that is nice.
Thankfully, the soccer gods agreed with those of us who hated the call. Iowa State got the ball at 18 after the penalty was imposed from within the five, and scored three plays later when Hutchinson caught another TD pass from Brock Purdy.
That counted. And it tied the game at 14-14.
