As in every race, it's not just the vehicle that determines the winner. Driver skill is key, something that is front and center when the Chevelle and Jeep compete against each other. One of these riders has quicker reflexes to get off the line earlier and it makes a difference.

When it comes to the Hellcat-Camaro clash, technology could be another point of contention. After all, the modern Mopar is factory-fitted with a line lock and start control, so it is likely that less skill is required to get it off the track quickly. Does that make the matchup unfair? We are sure that people will argue about it for a long time.
We're also sure that there will be a lot of controversy about calling an SUV a muscle car, American muscle, or even a performance vehicle. When you consider that the current SRT8 pumps a healthy 475 horsepower out of the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, that's certainly enough to get even a heavy SUV moving in a hurry. But purists want to argue that muscle cars only have two doors and are a certain size. We understand you want to keep the standards they were back then. But times are changing and back then nobody could have imagined that an off-roader would accelerate so quickly. Watching a Grand Cherokee race down the track is actually more impressive than anything lighter.
