Oops: Marvel’s new trailer might confirm a huge leak from 2021’s most exciting MCU movie

Marvel surprised fans on Monday with a three-minute montage promoting their films in the best possible way. It includes some of the incredible MCU moments we've seen since the first Iron Man hit theaters, as well as teasers for upcoming attractions. Marvel revealed the titles for Black Panther 2 and Captain America 2, and confirmed the release dates for Ant-Man 3 and Guardians 3, while teasing the Fantastic Four reboot.
One of the highlights of the video was the first footage from Eternals, one of the four MCU Phase 4 films set to be released this year. Marvel hasn't even released a teaser or full trailer for the film, which is set to premiere on November 5th. But the scenes Marvel showed off might be enough to confirm a massive Eternals leak from a few weeks ago that was full of spoilers. The entire plot of the film is said to have been leaked in great detail by a person who was reviewed on Reddit before it was released, and Marvel's scenes from this new video seem to confirm that.
We'll warn you that significant spoilers follow below. So stop reading here if you want Eternals to be a complete surprise.
The Eternals plot leak we saw in late March came from a Marvel subreddit, with the mods explaining that they could verify the authenticity of the information. "This plot summary was mailed to us a few days ago and has been followed by indisputable evidence of factual information through the tidbit," they said at the time. The Leaker's Eternal Story report came from a "very early test screening" that included unfinished effects, temporary music, and scenes that may not make it to final cut.
Here's the detail from the plot leak, which coincides with what we just saw in Marvel's official video:
Kingo [Kumail Nanjiani] is a Bollywood actor (there is a short dance routine that introduces this) and comes with the group along with his valet (don't remember the name) who tries to record everything on video.
Marvel added a scene to the promo video that appears to corroborate this information that no one outside of the people involved in producing the film would have known. We have Kingo on the front line taking off his glasses while a person behind him appears to be documenting everything around him.
We already knew that in Eternals, Nanjiani would play a Bollywood actor who also happens to be a powerful Eternal. But this particular scene matches the detail of the plot leak from a few days ago. If it wasn't all a huge coincidence, Marvel might have accidentally confirmed the story leak on Reddit.
I've always said that Eternals is one of the most exciting MCU Phase 4 films to release this year, and that was long before all of those leaks occurred - and long before director Chloé Zhao won an Oscar for Nomadland. That's because the film has a great cast cast, including many new heroes that we haven't explored yet in the MCU. Some of them are likely to join the Avengers in the future. Marvel's clip shows many of them in action, not just Nanjiani's Kingo - here's the clip again:
Finally, here is the full Eternals plot leak that leaked a few weeks ago:
There is a lot of jumping around in time to give context to different plot points. I don't remember the entire linear order so only the information is included as part of the summary
Opening Title Card Explaining the Deviants and Eternals - The Deviants were created by the Heavenly to hunt predators that prey on intelligent life in newly evolving worlds, but then they began to hunt life too, so the Heavenly ones created the Eternals to kill the dissenters.
Opening 5000 years ago In Mesopotamia a man fishes with his son (?) On some rocks and is attacked by a deviator from the sea. The Eternals appear and a short battle begins. Then they pose in a triangular "hero" pose and this rolls into the opening of the Marvel logo.
Jump To Today - Sersi [Gemma Chan] and Dane Whitman [Kit Harington] are UK teachers and dating. A major earthquake strikes during a class and Sersi saves a child from a falling object by turning it into sand. Later, while on a date, a Deviant attacks Sersi, Sprite [Lia McHugh] and Dane. During the battle, Ikaris [Richard Madden] shows up and they fight it after realizing that they thought all deviants were destroyed and, unlike others, the deviator was able to heal his wounds.
The group decides to visit Ajak [Salma Hayek] as she was the leader of the group. After arriving at the Midwestern ranch where she now lives, they discover her dead body. A small golden device leaves Ajak's body and enters Sersi (this is how she communicated with the Heavenly). Then they decide to group the rest of the Eternals and deal with the dissenters.
Thena [Angelina Jolie] and Gilgamesh [Ma Dong-seok] are in Australia (I think) because, based on their memory, she accidentally attacks the other Eternals. Gilgamesh is obviously in love with Thena, but it is not played as a romantic relationship.
Phastos [Brian Tyree Henry] and his husband are living with their child and he decides to help, as he has fully embraced humanity and wants to protect his family.
Makkari [Lauren Ridloff] has lived on the ship of the Eternals the entire time (I think since there are tons of food bins and clutter scattered all over the place.
Kingo [Kumail Nanjiani] is a Bollywood actor (there is a short dance routine that introduces this) and comes with the group along with his valet (don't remember the name) who tries to record everything on video.
Druig [Barry Keoghan] lives in a rainforest that controls a small village of people after he has lost faith in humanity and wants to control it to stop war, famine and so on. Gilgamesh is killed in a fight against the dissenters in the forest.
Sersi learns that the Celestials created both races and that the Eternals are basically just very advanced robots. They sow young planets with a heavenly “egg” that takes eons to mature. The evolving intelligent life on these planets nourishes the growth of the Celestial, so the Eternals are sent out to protect the evolving life forms and to kill the deviants. After surfacing, the Eternals are restarted and sent to another world (this is what causes Thena's memory problem as she knows the planet is doomed) - this cycle lasts for millions of years. The earth has been sown and Tiamut is about to surface (this used to be the cause of the earthquake). Once awakened, the entire planet and all life will be destroyed.
They discuss what to do and some decide to find a way to stop it from occurring. Ikaris disagrees, Sprite and Kingo are on his side, but Kingo agrees to help.
Phastos designs a device (Uni-Mind) with which Druig can channel all eternal energies in the hope of controlling Tiamut and putting him back to sleep.
Sersi learns that Ikaris knew about the actual plans of the Celestials and therefore left the group hundreds of years ago. He killed Ajak because she decided to stop the creation and save the earth.
The group goes to Tiamut and tries to use the device - Ikaris and Sprite try to stop them. Sersi then uses the device to amplify her power and turn Tiamut into marble just as his hand and part of his head emerge from the Indian Ocean.
Ikaris flies into space (towards the sun - unclear if he just walked or flew into the sun and killed himself) then Sersi makes Sprite a real human with what is left of her power.
A few days (?) Later, Thena, Makkari and Druig leave the ship to visit other Eternals and try to stop the cycle of destruction. Sersi, Kingo and Phastos stay on earth, but are then drawn into space by Arishem and disappear.
The final two credits: 1) Dane looks at an old box and pulls out a sword that is wrapped up. Just as he is about to touch it, an off-screen voice stops him. 2) Pip the Troll appears on the ship of the Eternals and introduces Starfox.
