Lance Stroll missed the F1 Eifel Grand Prix on Sunday at the Nürburgring with an obvious stomach problem.
Stroll has already been confirmed for a seat next to Sebastian Vettel at Racing Point in 2021.
Nico Hülkenberg met Stroll and finished eighth.
Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 Formula 1 champion, did not cause any problems with the Lance Stroll because he did not take part in the F1 Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring last weekend.
The Canadian stroll colleague skipped training on Saturday morning, and Racing Point team boss Otmar Szafnauer informed the media in Germany that Stroll was ill before training.
That wasn't good enough for Villeneuve.
"Even with a stomach ache you just go racing," Villeneuve, a former driver for Williams and Honda and IndyCar, told Sky Italia.
Stroll is the son of Racing Point owner and Lawrence Stroll. Although Stroll and Villeneuve are fellow Canadians, they have grappled in the past.
"If you really want to make it into Formula 1, you don't just drop out of a race," said Villeneuve. "Either Lance is in really great pain, which would mean he's got something serious, or he just doesn't have the will to do it at the highest level."
Team boss Szafnauer said Stroll, who was replaced by Nico Hülkenberg, had not felt right in the past two weeks and repeatedly tested negative for COVID-19.
"He hasn't felt good since Russia," said Szafnauer. “I think he had a cold. At first we thought, "Well, you'd better get tested for the virus." We tested it several times, including pre-event testing for this race. And he came back negative three or four times. He doesn't have the classic COVID-19 symptoms, he just doesn't feel good about himself.
“And last night he had a bit of an upset stomach. So he was in the bathroom the whole time. And he said, "I've lost a lot of fluids and can't get up from the toilet long enough to get into the racing car." I don't know if he's eaten or if it's something like a belly bug. He just said, “I just don't feel ready for it. We'll have a duplicate header soon. And I'd rather rest and prepare for it. "" "
The 2020 year of COVID-19 may not be a year to shoot someone who has called in sick, even in Formula 1. What do you think? In this case, do you have some respect for Villeneuve? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
