Paulina Porizkova, 56, spoke out against anti-aging culture in a new Instagram post.
"I want to shed a bright light on the dark corners of the shame that overwhelms women for their courage to age," she wrote.
She recommended a handful of women's Instagram accounts that inspire them to age confidently.
We know that Paulina Porizkova is open to accepting her age. The 56-year-old has often used the hashtag #sexyhasnoexpirationdate on social media and her latest reflections announce her disdain for the term "anti-aging".
"Age of battle. Reverse aging. Rejuvenate. Anti-age. None of this is possible. However, if you search for aging on the internet, this is what you get, ”she wrote in a July 29th Instagram post. "Pills, potions and workouts to fight the aging process."
The former supermodel is right. According to Global Industry Analysts, Inc., the antiaging products market was estimated to be worth $ 34.2 billion in 2020 and is growing rapidly and is projected to reach $ 47.8 billion by 2027.
Looking at these statistics, it is a bit shattering to step back and see what Porizkova has: "Do you know what the only way to stop aging?" She wrote. "Die."
“I don't want to fight myself every day for the rest of my life. But I want to make the most of what I've been given. And I want to shed a bright light on the dark corners of the shame that overwhelms women for their courage to age, ”she wrote.
She recommended a handful of women's Instagram accounts that inspire them to age confidently. “There are many, many more and inspirations for all sorts of reasons,” she added. "But for now, I only choose those who accept their aging and make it beautiful."
Her followers were inspired by her bold language and demeanor, which resulted in an encouraging conversation in the comments. “You inspire me every day,” wrote Michelle Visage. “Keep it up, Paulina. You are quite a refreshing sweetheart and you express yourself wonderfully. ? "another added.
“I love your approach to aging. It happens to all of us. The only thing we can do is take it and then do whatever we want to feel great in our own skin. To each his own, right! ???? ”wrote someone else.
Earlier this year, Porizkova began posting makeup-free, filter-free photos of herself to address the lack of representation for naturally aging women online.
"When I finally appreciate what has been given to me, according to society, I will lose my beauty," she wrote of a January selfie. "I'm trying my best to resist barbs that have passed my prime because god damn it, I feel in my prime now!"
She continued, "The combination of learning, maturation and wrinkling combined with my appearance is the best balance I have ever had in my opinion."
