Pedro Munhoz shares medical record to prove eye injury from UFC 276 bout against Sean O’Malley

Despite what his UFC 276 opponent Sean O'Malley and others may believe, Pedro Munhoz went to unnecessary lengths to prove he sustained a very real injury.
In the second round of their main card fight, Munhoz was accidentally stabbed in the right eye by O'Malley. Munhoz told the doctor who entered the cage to check on him that he could not see anything and the fight was stopped a few minutes after the incident, resulting in a no contest.
Speaking to reporters during the post-fight press conference, O'Malley said Munhoz wanted a way out of the fight "100 percent." A few hours into the fight, Munhoz explained his side of the story, saying he was also caught in the eye in the first round before the accidental foul in the second that led to the stoppage.
Apparently, Munhoz's story, along with some third-party confirmations and after-the-fact photos of his swollen eyes, wasn't enough to convince people his injury was legitimate.
On Monday, Munhoz went a step further to prove his eye injury by posting a photo of his medical record on Instagram.
"This is a medical report from Saturday night," Munhoz wrote in the caption of the social media post.
According to the protocol, Munhoz received erythromycin eye ointment, which is used to treat eye infections. Additionally, he was given a fluorescein eye strip in both eyes to help detect corneal abrasions and a tetracaine eye solution to numb the eyes before medical procedures.
The file shows that Munhoz Dr. Emil A. Stein, a Las Vegas-based ophthalmologist, for a right corneal abrasion and acute right eye pain.
While it shouldn't be necessary for a fighter to put their medical records online to prove their doubters wrong, Munhoz released the "receipt" to show that he was dealing with a real injury from his fight with O'Malley has to do.
