NANCY PELOSI: Does anyone have a question about the coronavirus negotiations? Yes.
- I was wondering how sure you were that 13 Republican senators would come over. The Senate majority, Whip Thune, was skeptical that it didn't have enough. and then did you talk to Mnuchin about convincing Republican senators?
NANCY PELOSI: Let me say that. I'm not particularly interested in a bill that had 13 senators. We need to have strong bipartisanism in the legislation in which we come together. I would hope that we could have bipartisanship in the House and in the Senate. We negotiated four of these bills. The last bill, the CARES bill, was a terrible bill. It was a trickle for business. We let our bill take charge and made it gush. We didn't get everything we wanted. You still have the $ 150 billion for the richest people in America. Even so, we got an invoice which I think made a good difference. Not everything, but a good difference.
So that's not - getting Republican votes is not my job in case you haven't noticed. It's up to them. It's up to them. And again they know. You - I think you come to the table with some degree of confidence that the President wants a bill if we can get an agreement. The President wants a bill and that is part of the opportunity we have.
