Pete Davidson Is Apparently Getting All of His Tattoos Removed — Here's Why
In the most unexpected celebrity news today: Pete Davidson reportedly decided to ditch his huge ink collection. And yes, we're talking about the entire lot, which until recently had over 100 tattoos.
The news was revealed not by Davidson himself, but by film critic Mike McGranaghan, who shared the entertainer's decision on Twitter after a virtual event with the cast of The King of Staten Island. "I just attended a virtual Q&A with Judd Apatow and the cast of THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND," tweeted McGranaghan in early December. "And here's a bullet: Pete Davidson is about to remove all of his tattoos!"
Of course, fans were shocked by the news and some of them seem less than enthusiastic. For example, one fan replied, "I won't stand for it," while another added, "No? Someone is stopping him." In addition, others responded with some skepticism, to which McGranaghan replied, “No, it's real. He even showed his hand, which is already done. He said it takes 3-4 hours in the makeup chair to cover it up so he thought 'it would be easier to burn them down.' "
Speaking of burning off ... it's no secret that tattoo removal is quite painful. In fact, earlier this month, Kelly Osbourne shared some close-ups of herself undergoing the procedure and she said it was "1,000,000,000,000 times worse" than getting a tattoo. Of course, everyone's pain tolerance is different. So if you're thinking of getting a tattoo removed, don't let Osbourne's personal experience put you off.
For those who didn't know, tattoo removal involves a laser that penetrates the skin and dissolves the ink underneath. That sounds pretty painful if you ask us. Paul Jarrod Frank, a board certified dermatologist in New York City, previously explained to Allure exactly how the process works, stating that "a high-intensity beam of light is directed at the pigmentation, causing it to break apart and be absorbed by the body." and excreted via the body's natural immune system. "
Another aspect to keep in mind when removing the ink is that it usually takes several laser sessions to completely remove the ink. So Davidson is definitely facing a long drive when actually all 100+ tattoos are removed. Of course, like everyone else, we have to wait and see what Davidson ultimately does. In the meantime, we're here waiting for the comedian to officially confirm the news.
