The 2021 Polestar 2 EV falls short of its previously estimated range of 250 miles with an EPA rating of 233 miles, while the EPA states that the 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge will achieve a range of 208 miles.
During the car and driver highway tests, the Polestar 2 covered 190 miles before it needed to be charged.
Due to the EPA results, the vehicle areas are below the offers of the competitors.
VW subsidiary Polestar had expected that its first fully electric vehicle would achieve a range of around 250 miles. Unfortunately for the new automaker, the EPA test showed a range of 233 miles. Meanwhile, the EPA range of 208 miles has been announced for the XC40 Recharge from parent company Volvo. Both are below the range of the Tesla Model Y and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
They also fall short of the target range of 250 miles for the newly debuted 2021 VW ID.4.
During the Polestar 2's C / D highway tests, the vehicle's 75.0 kWh battery lasted 190 miles. The result is similar to the one we received from the Chevy Bolt EV and the Audi e-tron in the same test.
Volvo reckoned the XC40 Recharge's range would be just over 200 miles, so the 208 mile rating isn't much of a surprise.
How this will affect sales remains to be seen. Still, most daily driving is far less than 200 miles and falls somewhere under 50 miles a day. Of course, your daily driving may vary.
