Powerful Sam stays the course as Category 4 hurricane amid track shift

Mighty Sam remains on course as a Category 4 hurricane amid a lane shift
Atlantic hurricane season is nearing the bottom of the list of major storm names in 2021, with Sam chugging through the ocean as a Category 4 major storm. Sam continues to track west and is currently quite a long way from any country, but it is a storm that warrants close monitoring for the next 10-14 days. Read on to find out where Sam is currently.
With a large amount of warm Atlantic water, Sam reaps the favorable atmospheric conditions while it continues to churn the ocean.
As such, Sam has seen an intensification since its appearance last week. On Saturday, the storm crossed Category 3, qualifying as a Major Hurricane, and later that day hit Category 4.
According to the update from the US National Hurricane Center on Sunday morning, the hurricane was leeward approximately 1,510 km east-southeast of the northern islands and moving from west to northwest at a speed of 13 km / h. This general direction is expected to continue on Sunday, followed by a turn towards the northwest on Monday. Then a northwesterly movement is forecast by the middle of the week.

Sam remains a Category 4 hurricane as the maximum sustained winds are near 230 km / h, with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in intensity are expected over the course of the next day or so. After that, a slow slowdown is forecast.
Forecasters are watching Sam for a possible Canadian impact, but it is far too early to know if Hurricane Sam will threaten Atlantic Canada in the next 10-14 days.
“The most likely scenario is that Sam returns and stays at sea and does not pose a major threat to Canada or the US, but poses a threat to Bermuda. It is still possible, however, for Sam to take a more southerly route ”and pose a threat to the southeastern US in about 9-12 days, or the storm could turn west far enough to be a threat to in 10-14 days being the Atlantic Canada, "says Dr. Doug Gillham, a meteorologist with The Weather Network.
Sam is the seventh hurricane of the 2021 Atlantic season. The hurricane season traditionally runs from June 1st to November 30th, with considerable flexibility on either side of this range.
