Pregnant Katie Lee Jokes Husband Needed a 'Scotch' After Learning They Were Expecting a Girl
Becoming a little girl's father for the first time took a little time - and a strong drink - to work for Ryan Biegel.
In a recent video interview with PEOPLE Now, food network star Katie Lee recalled how she and her husband Biegel were "so surprised" to learn the sex of their little ones along the way.
"We were certain that for some reason we had a boy, and when the doctor told us it was a girl, we were only on the ground," says Lee, 38. "My husband had to pour a Scotch because he was was so nervous. ""
Kitchen's co-host, on the other hand, is "so excited" to share this mother-daughter bond that she experienced with her own mother as a child and that continues to this day.
"I am an only child and my mother and I are so close. To have another little girl, I feel like the three of us will do everything together," she says.

Lee says that it was "certainly a challenge" to be pregnant in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), but the hardest part is not so much health-related as being separated from loved ones.
"The hardest part is not seeing your family and friends and sharing the joy with them - just having to do it virtually," she says of social distance.
But the silver lining is that she and television producer Biegel, whom Lee married in September 2018, "are so close."
"We have seen every little kick of the baby together, and it will definitely result in her being told some stories when she grows up," she tells PEOPLE.

Lee shared her pregnancy news back in February after getting precious information about her fertility struggles. "Eating for two? Baby Biegel is on the way!" In her announcement, she wrote next to a photo of herself exposing her growing baby bump.
Last month she announced that the couple were expecting a girl from their co-hosts at The Kitchen and said in a virtual episode: "Ryan and I have good news to report. We decided to find out if we had a boy or not a girl . "
"We just needed some good news to be happy," added the expectant mother before taking out a strawberry shake and announcing that she and Biegel were expecting a daughter.
"My husband @ryanbiegel and I are very happy to announce that we have a little girl! It was so much fun doing our 'unveiling' this morning with my family @foodnetwork #TheKitchen and you all!" She wrote on social media. "Our original plan was to wait and be surprised at birth, but at a time like this we decided that some good news to look forward to outweighed a surprise in September."
