President says he could kiss audience at his first rally since Covid infection, as doctors say he has tested negative twice
President Donald Trump steps up for a campaign rally aboard Air Force One in Sanford, Fla. On Monday, October 12, 2020 (AP).
Donald Trump said he could "kiss" supporters at the first rally since he was diagnosed with Covid-19 as doctors said he had tested negative for coronavirus twice.
"One thing about me, the nice part, I've been through it and now they say I'm immune," said Mr. Trump.
"I feel so powerful, I'm going to go into this audience, I'm going to kiss everyone in this audience, I'm going to kiss the guys and the beautiful women, I'm going to give you a big fat kiss."
The White House had previously announced in a published report by its doctor, Commander Sean Conley, that the president had tested a negative coronavirus "on consecutive days".
The announcement was made by press secretary Kayleigh McEnany after the president flew to Sanford, Florida for his Make America Great Again event.
Mr Trump did not wear a mask when he boarded Air Force One.
Many of his supporters at the rally at Orlando Sanford International Airport also did not wear masks or social distancing.
Earlier in the day, when Joe Biden spoke to union auto workers at a drive-in rally in Toledo, Ohio, Trump praised the performance of the stock market and underscored one of the key economic arguments of the Biden campaign against the president - that he wasn't hers understand economic struggle, especially during the pandemic
“All Trump can see from Park Avenue is Wall Street. So the Dow Jones is his only measure of American prosperity, ”Biden said when the car horns sounded approving.
Meanwhile, Trump's re-election campaign is in conflict with the respected Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, after taking his words out of context on a political ad to make it look like he was praising Trump. "In my nearly five decades in public service, I have never publicly endorsed a political candidate," replied Dr. Fauci.
