Protester says he knocked down Trump supporter, 72, in self-defense

The encounter between the Floridians began with an anti-Trump flag that the younger man had on his cart.
No charge is brought in the case of the young Florida protester who got into an argument with this unknown man over an anti-Trump flag with a mundane word.
A man in his twenties claims he knocked down an elderly Trump supporter in Nocatee, Florida in self-defense.
The confrontation between the Floridians began on Saturday with a flag that the younger man had on his golf cart and that contained a profane word. The man allegedly protested when Vice President Mike Pence traveled through the small town after engagements in Orlando and the conservative senior community The Villages.

The situation turned after the older man asked the younger one to remove his banner. After they met, the younger man fled in his car and told a reporter that he called the police after he felt safe.
"Violence is against everything I believe in," the younger man told local Jacksonville television station WJXT. “I only believe in using violence for pure self-defense. I'm not proud of that. I am not happy that it happened. "

According to the Sheriff MPs, no charges will be brought in this case.
"I really wish he hadn't closed this room and swung himself on me because I didn't want to," said the protester. “I didn't mean to put anyone in danger of falling and hitting their head. He was obviously an older man. I knew it was going to be twisted and misinterpreted. And I just knew it was a disaster. I was just trying to protest peacefully against the protest. "

He said he gave the older man several warnings before things escalated between the two.
"Get out of my face or you will get hurt," says the younger man on the video.
The older man told the news agency that he was not going to see a doctor. However, they found that he had visible bruises on his head and arms.

"I was kind of stuck down there," he claimed. “Like I said, I was kind of out for a while. I didn't black out, but I felt disoriented. "
About his opponent, the older man said to WJXT: "I think he needs to rethink his whole attitude towards things," he said. "It is clear that this political environment we are in does not have to resort to violence. In relation to what he said, I did not touch him. When I did something, it was in a defensive mode. "
Nocatee is about 30 miles southeast of Jacksonville. The area is described as "family friendly".
