Regeneron CEO says U.S. secured 300,000 doses of antibody cocktail
Washington - Dr. Leonard Schleifer, the founder and CEO of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, who developed the antibody cocktail announced by President Trump, estimated on Sunday that a $ 450 million contract the company received from the federal government this summer would cost around 300,000 doses of the Treatment will secure.
"You bought several hundred thousand, maybe around 300,000 cans from us, which you will manufacture for free," said Schleifer in an interview with "Face the Nation". "We can't do it alone. We need the entire industry."

The Trump administration announced in July that it had signed a $ 450 million contract with Regeneron to supply treatment. With the number of new coronavirus cases exceeding the available doses of the drug, Schleifer admitted that the federal government, along with ethics experts from the Food and Drug Administration, must decide who will receive the limited supply.
"We are developing a distribution system where we take what is limited and try to give it to the people who need it most, who would benefit the most - the vulnerable, the elderly, the high-risk and Household contacts maybe, "he said. "We have to find ways to ration this."
Mr Trump received a single dose of Regeneron's antibody cocktail while being treated for COVID-19 and praised the treatment, officially known as REGN-COV2, as a "cure" for the virus.
However, the treatment has yet to undergo an expert-reviewed drug study and has only been given to 10 people outside of clinical trials.
Schleifer called Mr. Trump's case a "case report" and said that while it was evidence of how the drug worked, it was "the weakest evidence one can get."
"The real evidence - how good a drug is and what the average it will do - has to come from these big clinical trials, these randomized clinical trials that are the gold standard," he said.
Regeneron applied for emergency approval from the FDA, and if granted, the government has agreed to "make these doses available to the people of America free of charge."
