Report: Packers releasing Jake Kumerow was ‘death knell’ in relationship with Aaron Rodgers
The latest in the developing and escalating conflict between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers could be the insane piece of the news reported.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Packers who released recipient Jake Kumerow prior to the season last year "drove Rodgers crazy" and was considered "a bit of a death knell in the relationship" between the quarterback and the decision makers in the world Organization described.
Rodgers now wants out of Green Bay, even though the Packers are obliged not to trade him.
According to Rapoport, Rodgers would like more influence on personnel decisions.
Dissatisfaction with the team's decision on Kumerow's roster status in early September looks like another breadcrumb on the road to this point.
The Packers surprisingly released Kumerov during the recent cuts and just a day after Rodgers publicly praised the veteran receiver and described him as a roster lockdown. The team decided to hold Malik Taylor over Kumerow, who was a Rodgers favorite.
"Jake Kumerow has been a solid performer for us over the past few years," Rodgers told Sirius XM NFL Radio on PackersNews.com. “I love its reliability. I think he's a fantastic, consistent player who is very exhilarating on the field and makes games. He plays with a lot of confidence and he's the type you like to have on the squad. "
Kumerow caught 20 passes for 322 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons at Green Bay. He was originally added to the team's exercise group in December 2017.
