To prepare for the new season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Emily Simpson camera-ready with a trip to see the beautician. But instead of doing a little refueling, she decided to ditch hers.
Last month, Simpson paid a visit to Orange County MD Jennifer Armstrong to break up the filler that had "wandered" under her eyes. On Armstrong's Instagram account, she shared before and after pictures side by side that show the Simpsons noticeably changed eye area.
"I haven't had a filler made for at least a year or more," says Simpson PEOPLE exclusively. "I think the filler had gotten into my face and it was too much right under my eyes. It gave me what I call 'The Cabbage Patch Kid,' which made me lose my eyes. The area right under my eyes were too puffy. "

Simpson, who says she started getting fillers about eight years ago, knew it was time to do something when she saw the effects of the buildup in pictures.

"I recently realized that I didn't like how I looked in photos and that it was hard to see my eyes when I smiled," she said. "I knew there was too much filler in the wrong places."
Fortunately, the solution was simple. "The only slight pain I felt was the pinprick," says the lawyer and party planner. "The doctor injected a solution that instantly dissolved the filler. There is no pain, but you can immediately see the swelling caused by the filler dissipate."
In her Instagram post, Armstrong stated that sometimes fountain pen needs to be added "in the right place" afterward, which she did with Simpson.
"As I get older, I get very dark circles under my eyes and I need some filler to fight that," says Simpson. "The key, however, is to get a subtle amount and in the right places!"
This isn't the first time Simpson has shared changes to her appearance on social media. Last year, Simpson got open about two major transformations with before and after photos proudly showing off her figure after her weight loss and breast implants have been removed. Simpson told her followers that she regained her confidence in the process.
"I never wanted to show these photos publicly because I am ashamed of where I let myself be carried away, but here I show my transformation because I want to be transparent with all of you," wrote the reality star in November. "I worked my bum off to get here and I'm so proud of how far I have come and go!"
"I lost myself and my confidence by gaining 30 pounds in a year ago on a reality TV show millions of people," continued Simpson, who underwent hip replacement surgery in October 2019. "Here I am a year and a half later, I feel sexy, confident in my skin and like the EMILY that I am supposed to be!"
Filming for season 16 of RHOC began in early July when Heather Dubrow (who returns four years after leaving the show) gave a sneak peek with the production crew.
In June, PEOPLE broke news that Dubrow will join Shannon Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter and Simpson on the Bravo hit, while Kelly Dodd, Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Elizabeth Lyn-Vargas will not be returning.
A premiere date for the 16th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County has not yet been announced.
