‘RHONJ’s’ Melissa Gorga Gets $2.5 Million for Glitzy Suburban Mansion
For those looking to peek inside the homes of rich and famous people, the Real Housewives franchise is a goldmine on television that shows the lavish and often insanely ostentatious homes of their attention-grabbing stars. And nowhere in the growing transnational franchise do the dramatic Bravolebrities live in such a striking, crystal-clear extravagance as in New Jersey.
Unfortunately, these palatial Jersey suburban mansions can be a tough sale unless replacement opulence is a cup of tea for a prospective buyer's home. Case in point are Melissa Gorga and her muscular builder husband Joe. In 2007, the Fiddles couple rushed $ 950,000 for nearly 2.25 acres on a quiet, hook-shaped cul-de-sac in Montvale, about 30 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan, where they built a 9,100-square-foot villa.

The Gorgas first attempted to sell the six-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom mansion in 2012 and 13 at an absurdly optimistic price of $ 3.8 million. Without a buyer they settled in until autumn 2017, when the property was offered for sale again at a price of almost 3.5 million US dollars, which was still much too high in retrospect. Now, after more than three years of multiple price cuts that brought the final request to just under $ 2.95 million, the Gorga mansion has finally been sold at a discounted price of $ 2.5 million.
According to Realtor.com, who first heard of the sale, the couple moved to their New Jersey coast home to quarantine during the pandemic. During this time, the Montvale Manse was cosmetically redesigned to soften some of the dazzling glare and heighten the sophistication with a monochromatic neutral color scheme in black, white and gray.

Marketing materials describe the house as "Center Hall Colonial in the exclusive Montville Pond area". While the property is actually in the Montville pond area, it is definitely not a colonial hall. It's more of a lock-hitting architectural style stew that includes a stone-clad tower, several Tudor-inspired chimney caps, and a variety of domed dormer windows over funky keyhole-shaped windows.
The strikingly large double-height foyer screams: "Look how rich I am!" with gilded wrought iron railings adorning the two curved staircases, while a mirrored table in the center of the unnecessarily cavernous space reflects the artificially gilded paneling of the intricately detailed vaulted ceiling over 20 feet above your head.
Polished and inlaid light gray marble floors extend into formal living and dining rooms. The living and entertainment rooms on the ground floor of the spacious house also include a billiard room with walls painted jet black and a circular library with hardly a book on the towering shelves. With imaginatively carved cupboards and high-quality appliances, the spacious eat-in kitchen opens into an adjoining family room.
Upstairs is the primary suite in a warehouse-sized room that is wrapped in light gray floral wallpaper. An off-center double-sided fireplace is shared with an aggressively opulent bathroom that is finished with gold marble floor tiles and comes with a tub with brass feet.

A spiral staircase connects all three floors as it winds down to a massive finished basement. As well as a professional bar, a kids' TV lounge with three TVs, and a luxurious screening room refreshed in a monochrome pewter palette, there's a poker room next to a corridor with glass cabinets displaying alcohol, a red-walled gym and beauty parlor, and finally a recording studio , in which the reality star and former would-be pop star recorded a handful of club ditties, including the heavily AutoTuned 2011 dance track “On Display”.
A porte-cochere cuts an arched passageway directly through a side wing of the huge home to connect the cobblestone circular engine bay with a secondary engine bay that provides access to the garage. Behind the house and on an untamed wall of trees and leaves, which shields the similarly striking neighboring villas, a dining terrace with a built-in barbecue looks out onto a pool with a dark bottom.
The property has been listed on Joshua Baris of Coldwell Banker Fort Lee, while the purchaser of Taylor C. Lucyk has been re-listed by Christies International Real Estate Northern New Jersey.
The Gorgas Shore Home, a 300-square-foot home on the waters of the Toms River with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, a waterfront pool, and a private boat dock, was purchased for $ 975,000 in Spring 2019. It has since been extensively renovated.
Meanwhile, Joe's older sister and Melissa's RHONJ cast colleague Teresa Giudice are also looking for a change of scene and put their even larger and more extravagant freeway-adjoining mansion in nearby Towaco up for sale a few months ago for $ 2.5 million .
