It's one way to go out in style.
At first we thought Philip Allen was joking when he said he had made arrangements to be buried in Richard Hammond's former Morgan Aeromax from 2008, but when the interview went on, he wasn't kidding. Retromotive explained to Allen the plans, which would run to over $ 100,000, but this man apparently really loves this car.
"Look, I don't take myself too seriously, I'm here for a fun time and I love this car so much that I've already made plans to be buried in it," he told the interviewer.
In the interview, it was stated that Richard Hammond has deeply regretted selling the Malvern-based Morgan, we're not sure if that's because the new owner wanted to be buried in it or just didn't want to let go of the car, which is 1 of only 100 was manufactured. With so few being made, getting one meant more than having money from the Grand Tour host.
The plan is, the car, and we assume Philip Allen's body is in a container, with the car on jacks so the tires don't get flat (the horror) and the container locks up. Then the contents of the container are put into a hole and covered with a concrete slab.
Is that the ultimate car collector's last wish? Or is it going too far?
