Roger Federer congratulates Rafael Nadal on tying male Grand Slam record

Roger Federer quickly welcomed Rafael Nadal to the club - now tied for the male record of 20 Grand Slam individual titles.
Federer, who had the main record alone in the last 11 years, congratulated Novak on social media 43 minutes after Nadal Novak swept Djokovic 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 to his 13th French Open title.
"I always had the greatest respect for my friend Rafa as a person and as a champion," wrote Federer along with a photo of him with Nadal. “As my biggest rival for many years, I believe we pushed each other to become better players. It is therefore a great honor for me to congratulate him on his 20th Grand Slam victory. It is especially amazing that he has now won Roland Garros and an incredible 13 times, which is one of the greatest achievements in the sport. I also congratulate his team, because nobody can do this alone. I hope 20 is just another step on the way for both of us. Well done Rafa. You deserve it."

Federer, who is five years older than Nadal at 39, missed the French Open and the US Open last month after two knee operations.
The next major is the Australian Open in January. Federer tries to regain sole ownership of the record. Nadal can move forward and be the first man in the Open Era to win all four majors at least twice.
Djokovic, an eight-time Australian Open record winner, is now at 17 Grand Slams. At 33, he is the youngest of the Big Three.
