Rookie Report: James Wiseman lives up to the hype in NBA debut vs. Nets
When they lost to the Brooklyn Nets on opening night, rookie James Wiseman offered the Golden State Warriors a single ray of hope.
After missing the start of training camp and all three preparation games, the number 2 lived up to the hype in its first game action since joining the Memphis Tigers on November 12, 2019.
In his role as the Golden State starting center, Wiseman scored 19 points in 7-of-13 with six boards and two steals in 24 minutes. The 19-year-old finished just one point behind Steph Curry as the Warriors' top scorer against the nets.
After the tip, it wasn't long before the rookie was on the board with his first official points as an NBA player. Just 49 seconds into the competition, Wiseman finished a pass in Andrew Wiggins' lane with a two-handed slam dunk.

Wiseman's full potential was shown in the second half. After the former McDonald's All-American shot a handful of buckets inside, he dropped out for some long-distance jumpers.
On his first attempt from outside the arch, the 7-footer knocked down a triple from the top of the key. After his first official 3-pointer, Wiseman buried another confident jumper from the 23 foot.
To end his run in the second half, Wiseman caught a punch from Jordan Poole in the lane.
