Roush tune gives the Ford Ranger an extra 47 hp, 65 lb-ft. for under $1,000
Michigan-based tuner Roush gives the Ford Ranger a generous helping of performance for a relatively small amount of money. The Performance Pac 1, approved in all 50 states, increases the power and torque of the truck.
You will be disappointed if you expect a pickup that outperforms the Mustang GT500. it is not, although you can be around the corner. Instead, Roush developed a tuning package that makes the Ranger livelier and at the same time remains on the tame side of the performance scale. The package consists of a cold air induction kit, which replaces the factory air inlet, and a software-based power motor calibration that was created in-house.
The Performance Pac 1 is compatible with 2019 and 2020 trucks that burn premium gasoline. It delivers 47 horsepower and 65 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. The stock Ranger delivers 270 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
Roush noted that the cold air intake did not interfere with the Ranger's ability to supply water. It added that the parts were designed using Ford CAD data so they fit like factory-made components. Aftermarket tuners are a dozen, but Roush has won the trust of enthusiasts by driving and modifying Ford vehicles for decades. It's the same company that builds an F-150 Raptor with 650hp and a Mustang with shifter and 775hp.
Prices for the Performance Pac 1 start at $ 935 and are covered by a three-year warranty of 36,000 miles. Shipping is free and available immediately. However, Roush warns that buyers will face an eight week delay due to the huge demand. Once you receive the kit, installation is a simple, hour-long task that only requires basic tools.
Motorists looking for a more powerful Ranger without going through the immense hassle of importing the Raptor badged model sold overseas have several other options. Ford Performance in particular offers a package called Performance Package 2 that offers 45 horsepower and 60 pound-feet of torque. The pre-installation price is $ 4,495. It also includes fog lights, BFGoodrich KO2 tires, tow hooks and special license plate frames. Alternatively, the engine tuning sells for $ 825 through Ford dealerships across the country alone.
