Rush Hour 4: Everything you need to know
By digital spy
Much has been said in the past 13 years about a possible fourth film in the rush hour series. However, no great progress has been made in recent years, so many wondered if Rush Hour 4 would ever come to fruition.
Then, in October 2017, Jackie Chan announced that he had agreed on a script for Rush Hour 4. The plan was to work on the film the following year after his former co-star Chris Tucker also signed the script.
"Over the past seven years, we have rejected the script, rejected the script," he said in a separate interview. "The script is likely to have a second draft later this month, and we'll likely start next year."
It took almost a year, but in February 2018, Chris Tucker confirmed that he was also on board. "It happens. This will be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people never forget it," he enthused.

Ww know: 2018 was and is in the fourth film without movement. Tucker offered another update in late January 2019.
"We're working on a couple of things on the script right now, so we're trying to go into production, but we're working on it and trying to get it going. Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it. The studio wants to do it, so we're trying to bring it together, "he explained in the Winging It podcast.

"I was definitely on the ground as long as it comes together properly - and it looks like it comes together properly."
On April 7, 2019, Tucker continued to tease fans that a fourth film would take place by showing a photo of the two stars with four fingers each. There was no caption in the photo and they met on Chan's birthday. So it's not like they're just meeting to discuss the fourth film.
There has been no news for more than a year since this Instagram post. But if Rush Hour 4 is going to take place, what do we know about it so far?
Rush Hour 4 release date: when can we expect it?
Until the film starts, there is no way to determine the exact release date of the fourth film, but based on the previous films, it looks like we're getting a late summer release.
Rush Hour was released on September 18, 1998, the sequel followed on August 3, 2001 and the sequel on August 10, 2007. So if the fourth film goes into production in late 2020, we could see the fourth film in summer 2021. But don't hold your breath.
Rush Hour 4 Occupation: Will Anyone Come Back?
It was initially assumed that both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker would return as a mismatched duo of Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter. According to Tucker's Instagram post and rumors associated with it, Jackie Chan's management company released a statement.

"We found that false information that Mr. Chan would appear in the films Rush Hour 4 and The Karate Kid 2 was spreading across multiple social media platforms and that certain seemingly infringing parties were personally chatting WeChat and email - Abused accounts of Mr. Esmond Rend, a film industry professional who posted incorrect information about crew recruitment, casting, audition, and other matters related to the Rush Hour 4 and The Karate Kid 2 images.
"With respect to the above information, we hereby declare on behalf of Mr. Chan that all of the information as it is distributed by such infringers relates to Mr. Chan, who provides or will provide acting services in the movies Rush Hour 4 and The Acting Karate Kid 2 is wrong. "
So there is that.

Aside from the two main roles, there isn't much room for returns from the original trilogy, as only Chan and Tucker are the mainstays of the series. However, Tzi Ma could be back as Ambassador Solon Han after appearing in the first and third films.
Solon Han's daughter Soo-Yung Han was also seen in the first and third films, but was played by Julia Hsu (rush hour) and Zhang Jingchu (rush hour 3).
Don't expect to see someone from the canceled TV series just in case you're wondering.
Also, don't expect Brett Ratner to return as a director behind the camera. He made all three of the previous films, but was charged with sexual harassment by Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, and four others in 2017. He denied all allegations.
Following the allegations, Warner Bros (who published the trilogy on New Line Cinema) announced in April 2018 that co-financing and first-look deals with Ratner and his company RatPac-Dune Entertainment (via Variety) will not be extended.
Rush Hour 4 trailer: when will new footage be released?
Of course, there is still no chance of film material, but given the massive delays, we would not be surprised if there was some kind of film material behind the scenes at the beginning of the film.
Rush Hour 4 will (probably) be released sometime.
