Russell Wilson wowed handing to Adrian Peterson. His Seahawks lead blocker hasn’t met him

After 10 mostly miraculous years, a Super Bowl ring, a $ 140 million contract and really more than any man can reasonably hope for, Russell Wilson is not that easy to get excited.
But the 33-year-old franchise quarterback looked and sounded awesome on Sunday when he first met Adrian Peterson's teammate.
"Adrian Peterson? I mean, come on, ”said Wilson after Peterson scored his 126th touchdown of his Hall of Fame career on his debut for the Seahawks, their 30:23 win over San Francisco.
"Think about it: I was fortunate enough to be able to hand the ball over to Adrian Peterson and he'll tie up Jim Brown," said Wilson.
He reached out and looked at his hand giving Peterson the ball for the score linking the 36-year-old running back to the immortal Brown for the tenth most TDs in NFL history.
"What a remarkable, remarkable experience for me personally," said Wilson. “I've played with some great players. But to be able to pass the ball on to Adrian Peterson to have him hit there was something special. I've always admired his work ethic and everything else. "
Seattle Seahawks running back Adrian Peterson (21) and quarterback Russell Wilson (3) shake hands before the start of an NFL game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field in Seattle on Sunday.
Midway through the second quarter, Seattle 17-7 behind, Peterson pulled several 49ers over the line for 4 yards and a first down. Left tackle Duane Brown and wide receiver Penny Hart helped him off the floor. Peterson patted hard on the bottom, heartily.
A pass interference penalty against 49er fill-in cornerback Deommodore Lenoir in the back of the end zone when Wilson threw late from the 4 to Freddie Swain gave Seattle first on the 2.
Then Peterson got the ball in, of all places, Seahawks, rare I-formation. He whizzed around the left end and overtook the 49ers to the goal line for the touchdown.
Although the Seahawks were overtaken 124-7 in the second quarter in games that weren't Travis Homer's fake 73-yard punt run for a Seattle touchdown, the Seahawks were only 17-14 behind.
Defender Nick Bellore made a bouncing chest thrust with Peterson in the end zone. Bellore and Brown shared a roar about Peterson overtaking Walter Payton on the NFL's all-time TDs list with the score.
"It was exciting for our boys to get a touchdown for AP today so he could tie the great Jim Brown," said coach Pete Carroll. “It was just for fun. I'm thrilled that he has the chance and that he has him with us in this game
Bellore, Seattle's special team captain, was the full-back in the TD's I formation. He had spent most of the week of training with the kicking teams and in his other role as backup middle linebacker.
As he stepped into the offense cluster near the goal line, Peterson made a double take.
"He's probably wondering who I am," said Bellore, "because I haven't really met him yet."
All the same. Peterson followed a blue jersey and then ran around everyone outside to the left for his 120th roaring touchdown.
Only four players have scored 120 or more rushing TDs in NFL history: Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marcus Allen, and now Peterson.
Seattle Seahawks running back Adrian Peterson (21) celebrates with wide receiver Freddie Swain (18) after Peterson scored a touchdown in the second quarter of an NFL game on Sunday at Lumen Field in Seattle.
Hours later, when Carlos Dunlap stormed Jimmy Garoppolo's fourth down pass 18 seconds from the end and the Seahawks left the field winners for the second time in two months, Peterson flashed a peace sign to cheering fans as he climbed the tunnel to his new one Locker entered the room.
Released from Tennessee on November 23 after 82 yards in three games, Peterson was in the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game and was watching his Sooners in Stillwater when his agent called on a Saturday to say the Seahawks were interested to oblige him. On Wednesday last week, he signed a contract with the Seattle training team. The Seahawks wanted him because Chris Carson was in the injured reserve, fill-in starter Alex Collins was injured and backs Rashaad Penny and Homer were also beaten up.
Saturday, with Collins sidelined for that game, the Seahawks promoted Peterson to play against the 49ers.
General manager John Schneider said on Seahawks radio station's pregame show on Sunday that he had a great relationship with Peterson's agent, who is also Josh Johnson's agent. The undrafted rookie has his chance to prove himself in these last six games blocked by Peterson's arrival.
“We just thought about bringing him, his passion and his way of working, we thought it was the right time. It's really cool for the young people to see this guy, ”Schneider said of Peterson.
“I remember exploring him in Oklahoma (when a tailor was in his hometown Green Bay Packers HR department). I feel like 21 years old. This guy is amazing ... it's amazing. This guy is great.
“You wouldn't even know he has a big old chewing gum in his mouth too. That's old school. "
Peterson finished with 16 yards on 11 carries. What else is new? Seahawks running backs ran 23 times 58 yards out of the scrimmage on Sunday, 2.5 yards per rush.
Peterson's Seahawks career began as the other running backs on the team have run for most of this season.
His first carry was associated with a loss of 5 yards. Pocic was decisively beaten by the snap and his husband dropped Peterson who had no chance.
His second carry, Peterson was seated behind three tight ends lined up on the right to win the first down. But he lost the ball for a fumble shortly after Wilson gave it to him. Pocic recovered with a 1 yard loss instead of first down.
At least play caller Shane Waldron eventually let it go more to help Wilson protect the offensive line-pass from a more honest defense. In the last three games before Peterson arrived, Seattle's running backs carried the ball 11 times in Washington, 17 times against Arizona and only 10 times in Green Bay. The Seahawks lost all of those games.
What did Peterson's offense and team get beyond their milestone touchdown and 1.5 yards per rush?
"Really, I just wanted to take him out and give him a chance to see our boys and be with our team," said Carroll, who has been looking for Peterson for about 20 years since he went to Palestine High School in East Texas to recruit to USC. “I thought it was such a rare opportunity and he totally exceeded my expectations of his influence just being in the locker room and on the practice field. He was so much the consummate professional when it came to taking this opportunity to heart and seizing it.
“He played a lot of football and was as serious about it and as strict as he did everything. He performed wonderfully. He had a great week of training.
"He had to play and we knew he had the touchdown thing we wanted."
Seattle Seahawks running back Adrian Peterson (21) stretches before the start of an NFL game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field in Seattle on Sunday.
Peterson won't hit Jerry Rice's touchdown record of 207; Who will? But he could make it into the top 10 of all time in total yards. Peterson has 17,3792 yards total, 38 yards from Curtis Martin for 10th place.
Peterson is fifth all-time in Rushing Yards at 14,918. He is 351 yards behind Barry Sanders in fourth.
This wasn't a one-game deal with Peterson and the Seahawks.
When asked if he would be in Seattle's plans when the team returns to Peterson's native Texas this weekend to play in Houston (2-10) on Sunday, Carroll said, “He's coming to meetings on Monday.
"Let's go."
Bellore and Peterson's new, look-up pals on the 15-year-old running back's sixth NFL team sound like anything for it.
“I'm really old,” said 32-year-old Bellore, “and he's even older. I remember seeing him when I was in college, high school, all that. Some guys were in grade school watching him do the pros.
"For a legend like that, you've got some extra juice to try and get him into the end zone."
