Salma Hayek Gets Real About Why Her Breasts Have Gotten Bigger Over the Years
Salma Hayek has been known for her bombastic curves since she appeared as a sexy love interest in Desperado in 1995. And much like her fame and acting skills, these vast assets have continued to grow over the years. The 54-year-old actress especially admits her breasts, but not for the reason why many think.
"A lot of people said I had a breast augmentation," actress Jada Pinkett Smith, 54, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris said on a recent episode of Red Table Talk. “I don't blame them! My breasts were smaller! The rest of my body was too. "

No, Hayek's larger breasts are not the result of plastic surgery, although she admits that her breasts have grown "many, many sizes" over the years. It turns out the actress is going through menopause - along with other life events - to thank (or blame) for her increase in bra size.

“With some women, they get smaller. But there are women who have breasts that grow when they gain weight and there are other women who grow when they have children and are breastfeeding and they don't go back, ”Hayek said. "And then, in some cases, they grow back during menopause."
“I'm just one of those women to whom it happened every single step! When I put on weight, when I got pregnant and went through menopause. ”Hayek complained, finding that she had back pain from the extra weight on her chest.
While it's not often talked about, it is true that menopause can cause breasts to grow. According to WebMD, "A recent study found that 1 in 5 women after menopause increased a bra size (usually due to weight gain), but only 1 in 50 needed a smaller bra."

Hayek, who suffered from a serious illness with COVID-19, is currently starring alongside Ryan Reynolds on The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, but is also working on a series on menopausal breasts based on Leslie Lehr's memoir A Boob's Life: How America's Obsession Shaped Me ... you. How fitting!
"We're so grateful that HBO Max was insightful and brave enough to develop this show with us," Hayek said in a statement to Deadline. "In a Boob's Life, we use breasts as a metaphor for the constant judgment women are subjected to and create a collective feeling that no matter what we do, we are never enough."
