Michelle Obama celebrated daughter Sasha Obama's 20th birthday on Thursday with a look back photo, fond memories and anticipation for her future.
“Happy birthday to my beloved Sasha! I'm so grateful for every laugh we've shared - and everything you've taught me over the years, "the 57-year-old former first lady wrote alongside a photo of her hugging Sasha as a child.
"You will always be my little girl, but I couldn't be more proud of the woman you are," wrote the wife of former President Barack Obama. "Love you very much!"
Sasha is studying at the University of Michigan while older sister Malia Obama, 22, recently graduated from Harvard University.
Ms. Obama said last month that she "almost forgot" that her daughters will be 20 and 23 this summer. (Malia's birthday is on July 4th.)
"I mean, I just say 'stop there.' I don't even have teenagers anymore, "Ms. Obama said at the time, saying she was looking forward to what was to come.

The Obamas enjoyed their extra time together at home last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With their schools closed for personal tuition, Sasha and Malia both spent much of 2020 in quarantine with their parents, splitting time between the family home in Washington, D.C. and their home on Martha's Vineyard.
Ms. Obama told PEOPLE last year that Sasha, who had recently finished her sophomore year, had become a "midnight baker" with Malia and that the former first couple had enjoyed their daughters unexpected time from school.
"That time allowed us to get some stolen moments back with our girls," said Ms. Obama. "These regained moments meant the world to us and I think they made our relationships with our children even stronger."

The former president also revealed to PEOPLE in November that Sasha and Malia had also become more politically active - "without any request from Michelle and me," he said.
President Obama said his daughter participated in protests against police brutality and racial injustice in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd. He elaborated on the "optimism" conveyed to him in an interview on CNN this week.
"What I find interesting is that they are also very strategic about getting the system involved and changing it," Obama, 59, told CNN. "They're not just interested in making noise, they're interested in what works."
