See Shailene Woodley Confirm She's Engaged to "Incredible" Aaron Rodgers
Get ready for a big little wedding because Shailene Woodley really is on her way down the aisle.
Actress Big Little Lies confirmed her engagement to "wonderful" NFL star Aaron Rodgers during her new interview with Jimmy Fallon, which aired Monday, February 22nd.
E! News can exclusively get a first look at tonight's show as Shailene shares her under-the-radar romance with the Green Bay Packers quarterback.
It turns out they have been engaged "for a while" after meeting during the pandemic. "It's not new news to us, you know?" she told the host of the Tonight Show. "So it's kind of funny. Everyone's freaking out about it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.'"
Claiming she hadn't imagined marrying an athlete, the actress said, "He's just a wonderful, incredible person to start with. But I never thought I'd be engaged to someone who made a living on balls deserved As a little girl, I never thought I'd say, "Yeah, when I grow up, I'm going to marry someone who throws balls! Yes! "But he's really that good at it."
It sounds like her dog actually had a hand in the matchmaking process, which made her fiancé the pup.
Shailene Woodley's best looks
As Shailene recalled, "The first time I met him, I thought my dog was pulling me aside and saying, 'If you don't date this guy, I'm going to deny you as my mother because of the three feet that I'm with you run If you throw a ball it's nothing compared to the marathon I can run with him. '"
Shailene, 29, then confessed that she had never attended a soccer game in person and hadn't even seen it on TV before dating Aaron, 37.
"We met at this crazy, crazy time and all the stadiums he was playing in were closed, so I have to go to a football game," she said. "I didn't really grow up with sports, especially American sports. It was never really on my radar. When we met, I also knew he was a footballer, but I didn't know what kind of footballer he was . And I'm still studying all the time. "
The Divergent star admitted she's still not the biggest soccer fanatic. As she put it, "I don't get it. He's good. He's great. But I don't understand. Because I don't know him as a footballer. I know him as that." Nerd who wants to host Jeopardy! This is the guy I know. "
Aaron Rodgers, Shailene Woodley
Earlier this month, E! The message first revealed that Shailene and Aaron were together. A source said they kept things "private and low-key" during the football season and while filming in Montreal. "They keep talking and see each other if they can. They both focus on their careers, but also take time for each other," the insider said at the time.
Just four days later, Aaron drew fans' attention to the seriousness of this when he casually revealed he was engaged. While accepting the 2020 Most Valuable Player award, he stated, "2020 has definitely been a crazy year of change, growth, some amazing, unforgettable moments ... One hundred and eighty consecutive days of scratching my nose, a plan For very small fans or no stalls throughout the season, I got engaged and played some of the best football games of my career. "
He later thanked "my fiancée" during the NFL Honors event without naming them.
Also in February, Aaron was visiting his bride-to-be in Canada for two weeks when she was filming her new thriller Misanthrope. A source said, "They had no problem staying in and ordering food and nowhere to go."
They even spent Valentine's Day morning together before Aaron returned to the States.
A source close to the situation told E! News that the couple can't wait to get married and they want it to happen "soon". According to the insider, "they had a very intense connection from the start."
Why it all happened so quickly, the source explained: "Both of them knew early on that it was special and different from what they'd experienced in other relationships. It's a quick engagement, but for those they know, it was not so." It's not a surprise. "
Rumor has it that the future Mr. and Mrs. were actually introduced by Aaron's ex, racing driver Danica Patrick, after fans noticed that Shai apparently liked a couple of her Instagram pics.
