Shaquille O'Neal doesn't want to play games with Kanye West - his mother raised him better.
The 50-year-old NBA superstar-turned-broadcaster said he took the "posh" route when West, 45, tried to engage with him on social media earlier this month. It began after O'Neal criticized Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving for promoting an anti-Semitic film. (Irving has apologized.) West, who was at the center of his own anti-Semitism controversy, responded by dragging O'Neal with him. O'Neal quickly closed West with his "Have a great day" response.

"When I make a statement, I have an opportunity to travel through time and watch my mom watch it on TV," O'Neal told People. "So I'm not saying [what I really want to say] because she would be upset. She'd be like, 'Baby, stop that.'" He said if his mother, Lucille Harrison, "wasn't here, I'd be fucking reckless." I really would.”
O'Neal, who said he handles it like the "noble man" he is, said he doesn't mind a bit of sparring: "But if it ever gets personal, I'll come to you. I don't do this in small child's games." He said West, who has used social media to spread hateful comments, is the one who has "messed up his whole life" — he's lost billions of days — "he did it . Nobody else did it. Those narcissistic people, if they screw up, it's everyone else's fault."
The tire legend admitted you have to know when to deal with narcissists. He called himself "a bit narcissistic," but nowhere near West. “On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm probably a 2; [West] is an 8 or 9,” O'Neal said. "A lot of people just can't take responsibility. He threw everything away because he was arrogant and cocky, so now he wants to throw everyone else’s business under the bus?”
Speaking on Thursday's The Big Podcast With Shaq, O'Neal said he knows what West, also known as Ye, is going through.

"Do you know why I know what he's going through? Because I used to be a narcissist," O'Neal said. “First example: If you are a narcissist, mom takes your children away. Second example: When you're a narcissist, things just disappear."
O'Neal recently called himself a "d***head" when he divorced wife Shaunie. As for West's divorce from Kim Kardashian, he reportedly didn't appear for his Nov. 16 testimony in the ongoing divorce proceedings. West gets another opportunity on November 29th.
In West's most recent spiral, he threatened "death scam 3 against Jewish people," resulting in his being dumped by Adidas and his agent, among others. Soon after, Irving faced his own backlash for promoting an anti-Semitic documentary on social media, leading O'Neal to brand Irving an "idiot." The rapper/clothing designer then became involved with O'Neal by criticizing the basketball star's dealings West suggested that O'Neal was duped by Canadian billionaire and owner of Authentic Brand Group Jamie Salter, with whom O'Neal does business (O'Neal is the second largest single shareholder of Authentic Brands Group, which owns brands like Reebok, Forever 21, and Barneys New York.)
O'Neal took to Twitter to respond to West's claims, writing in part: "Concerned about your business and to quote the once great Kanye West, 'I've got more money than you so why should I listen to you? ' Take my advice and get your family business in order. Have a nice day, brother."
