‘SNL’ Cuts Musical Guest After Videos Show Him Kissing Women And Partying Maskless
Country musician Morgan Wallen admitted he was busy after his first scheduled musical appearance on "Saturday Night Live" was abruptly canceled this weekend for breaking the show's coronavirus precautions.
Several videos on TikTok and Twitter in the last few days show Wallen, an alum from "The Voice", who celebrates in a crowd without a mask and kisses numerous women.
Wallen said on Instagram Wednesday that he was in New York ready to perform on Saturday when "I got a call from the show letting me know I can't play anymore."
"I'm not positive for COVID, but my actions over the past weekend have been rather short-sighted and have obviously influenced my long-term goals and dreams," he said, adding, "I want to apologize to" SNL "to my fans, to mine Team that gave me these opportunities, and I have let them down. And what is even more personal, I think I have yet to grow up. "
"SNL" has implemented a strict COVID-19 protocol (supported by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, according to creator Lorne Michaels) since returning to Studio 8H in New York's 30 Rock for the season 46 launch on October 3rd according to Vulture, limiting tickets, "mandatory" COVID-19 tests, temperature checks, wearing masks at all times and a COVID questionnaire for every audience.
Wallen, whose songs include "7 Summers", said in his video that he would take some time for public life.
"I'm going to step back from the spotlight for a while and work on myself," he said. “I wish I could have made country music and my fans proud this Saturday, but I respect the decision again and Lorne Michaels actually gave me great encouragement by letting me know that we will find another time to do this again to do well That means a lot to me. Thanks for that. "
It is unclear whether "SNL" will replace Wallen with another musical guest or skip this week's musical segments.
A representative for the show declined HuffPost's request for comment.
