Solskjaer vows Man Utd will give everything to go past Liverpool after being 'hurt' by title win
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has announced that anyone connected to Manchester United will "hurt" if Liverpool wins the Premier League title, and has vowed to "do everything" to help Merseysiders in the future surpass.
Jürgen Klopp's team was crowned champions on Thursday night after Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 on Stamford Bridge. This ended the 30-year wait for the greatest fame.
And United boss Solskjaer attributed the league win to the Anfield team, but admitted that it hurts anyone connected to the Red Devils when another team is at the top.
"Every team that wins the Premier League deserves it, it deserves recognition. It is difficult to win a league. Recognition to Jürgen and his players. Every time someone wins a trophy, it hurts," said Solskjaer .
"It's the feeling that everyone connected to Manchester United has - all of our employees and supporters. Of course we want to get back on the winning streak, and that's our challenge."
Despite Liverpool's dominance this season, Solskjaer doesn't think Klopp's team will be able to consistently deliver titles over the next decade, as Sir Alex Ferguson did at Old Trafford.
"In my opinion, the series of titles we won under Sir Alex won't be easy for anyone to emulate or copy," he added. "Sir Alex was a master at staying at the top. The challenge for me is to make sure that we don't stay 26 years or more until we win again.
"We will do everything we can to shorten the distance or, of course, even get past it."
United is currently fifth in the Premier League table, 37 points behind the champions, and while Solskjaer is anxious that his team fill the gap, he wants them to focus on other priorities first.
"I don't think it's time to say how far behind [United] is. We are in a position to improve, we have to get into the Champions League, move up in the league and fight for trophies . " "said the Norwegian.
"The consistency and efficiency that they have shown is a challenge for us too. We know at our best that we are very good. We have to do it again and again and that is a challenge for our future players."
