Son of ‘The Walking Dead’ star, supermodel busted in San Gennaro festival assault
The son of "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus was arrested and charged with beating a woman at the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy, officials said on Saturday.
Police said model Mingus Reedus was charged with assault after beating a 24-year-old woman on Mulberry and Grand Sts. about 10:15 pm on Friday as the annual festival ended for the night.
The 21-year-old son of Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen quarreled with the woman, whom, according to sources, he did not know when he slapped her in the face, the police said. She was taken to NY Downtown Hospital for treatment for a minor injury.
The model is the oldest child of "The Walking Dead" star, who plays fan favorite Daryl Dixon. Norman Reedus also starred in the cult classic "The Boondock Saints" from 1999 and its sequel.
Norman Reedus also has a daughter with actress Diane Kruger.
The clash was one of two consecutive attacks on Mullberry St. on Friday night.
During an earlier hand-to-hand combat at a nearby restaurant, hopeful Mayor Curtis Sliwa was on hand to help quell the violence.
The video released by Sliva's campaign shows the Republican candidate and his entourage entering the Il Piccolo Bufalo restaurant, where a customer had just beaten up a female employee.
The customer quarreled with another patron when she hit, beat and scratched the 39-year-old clerk who was trying to end the fight at around 9:40 p.m., police said.
The video shows Sliwa and his cohorts trying to reassure customers when a woman is seen tossing a drink. A few moments later a guardian angel grabs another woman who is about to throw an object, Sliwa intervenes and another man tries to intervene.
"I know you! I can take care of you!" yells the man as a guardian angel tries to pull him back.
You can see Sliwa grinning as he briefly flies over the restaurant and leaves. “Yes,” he quips as he walks away.
"The windows were smashed, then fighting broke out in the streets and there was chaos when the guardian angels took control of the situation," said his campaign on Facebook.
Another fight broke out when the video ended, his campaign said.
Police arrested Eleni Dotlin, 25, from Queens in connection with the attack on Il Piccolo Bufalo.
The two arrests were unrelated, the police said.
