Stephen Miller tangles with Florida GOP freshman at House immigration meeting

GOP MP María Elvira Salazar had a lively exchange on immigration with former Trump adviser Stephen Miller during a meeting with a group of House Republicans Wednesday, according to multiple Republican sources.
The back and forth took place at the end of Miller's presentation to the Republican Study Committee, the largest conservative caucus within the House's GOP. Miller, the architect of Donald Trump's persistent immigration policy, spoke to the group along with other former immigration officials in the Trump administration.
According to sources, Salazar pushed for an immigration policy that would expand the GOP tent and challenge Miller on how Republicans can attract Hispanic and Latin American voters, given the ultra-conservative policies he advocates.

The rally, which was also attended by Tom Homan and Mark Morgan, two senior immigration officials for Trump, is held as the Democrats are expected to soon enact laws to overhaul the U.S. immigration system.
Salazar is a Cuban American and immigration is one of her main policies. During her campaign for the 27th district of Florida, she highlighted US policy towards Cuba and Latin America more generally.
According to sources, Miller reacted calmly. And then Salazar and Miller stayed to talk for about 30 minutes afterward, a source added.
