Sunny Hostin: ‘Saddened’ That ABC News Exec Called Me ‘Low Rent’

View's co-host, Sunny Hostin, got a little emotional on Monday when she spoke about racially derogatory comments that were reportedly made by a top ABC News manager about her and several other black employees.
At the weekend, HuffPost reported that Barbara Fedida, senior vice president of talent and business affairs at ABC News, had long made racist comments about black anchors and hosts, which prompted the network to put Fedida on administrative leave investigating the allegations . Fedida has also reportedly smeared Hostin, calling it "low rent."

At the start of ABC's show, The View, on Monday after co-host Whoopi Goldberg found Fedida said the claims of her behavior were "incredibly misleading," Hostin responded to allegations against the executive.
"It was a tough weekend for me," said Hostin. "And I was really disappointed and sad and hurt when I heard about the racist comments that were supposedly made about me, my colleagues and my dear friends."
Referring to several other racist comments that Fedida is accused of, Hostin said that this report tells her that "systemic racism affects everyone and everything in our society, regardless of social stature," and that "nobody is immune to it."
“It's the kind of racism that black people deal with every day and it has to stop. I am looking forward to the results of an independent external investigation that I felt very much loved and supported by. My colleagues, ”she said, adding,“ it has to stop. "
Hostin's two moderators, Joy Behar and Meghan McCain, both expressed their support for Hostin. McCain pointed out that "if you attack one of us, you will attack us all".
Goldberg concluded by saying that she has known Fedida for a long time and does not "think she is racist", but that she needs to go through an investigation to find out the truth behind the reports.
"Let's find out because if it's true, it's gone, but if it's not, let's find out what's going on, and an independent investigation is what it takes because the days of systemic racism are over go, "she added. "These walls are falling and we're pulling them down."
