Surprising details have emerged on Ben Simmons’ return to Sixers

Philadelphia 76ers all-star Ben Simmons seems to have a flair for the dramatic. After skipping the entire training camp plus three preseason games, the embattled star returned to Philadelphia on Monday when the team played a preseason game.
The fact that Simmons even showed up after threatening to sit all season is surprising enough as he tries to force his way out of the city of brotherly love. But the details of how this turned out are also shocking.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons didn't even let the organization know he was coming. He just happened to show up at the Wells Fargo Center and let General Manager Elton Brand know he was there to meet his COVID-19 obligations.
Per Woj:
Before tonight's opening tip for the Brooklyn-Philly preseason game, I was told that Elton Brand, who is the general manager of the Sixers and works with Daryl Morey, receives a text message to Doc Rivers that basically says, "Hey, Ben is out of the building ". He has to get in to do his COVID test, ’and so the Sixers found that Ben Simmons had returned to Philadelphia after two weeks in the preseason. He did his COVID test tonight and is back. He's back with the organization right now.
The Sixers have dealt with numerous bizarre events, but this one takes the cake. The positive for Philadelphia is that he's back on the team and may be a little closer to a solution. Whether the Simmons finally moves or holds hands and has a kumbaya moment to move forward with him on the list remains to be seen.
