Tanzania's president has urged the country's central bank to prepare for wider adoption of crypto around the world.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan reportedly said in a speech on Sunday that the Bank of Tanzania should "be ready for change and not be caught."
“I know that across the country… they have not accepted these routes or have started using them. However, my appeal to the central bank is that they should start working on this development. "
Her speech follows shortly after El Salvador introduced Bitcoin as legal tender.
