Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave stands by her decision to have a neck lift.
In an interview with Extra's Billy Bush this Friday, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 40, shared her thoughts on the reaction from fans and explained why she decided to go under the knife.
Referring to her followers' response, Mellencamp said, "Everyone's gone crazy. I mean, there were a lot more positives than negatives, but I kind of wanted to point out the negatives, because people want all the details all the time, but when you give them the details, they get upset about it."
And Bush and Mellencamp agreed that cosmetic surgery is an individual's personal choice — not someone else's.
"To each his own," she said, "if you don't want to get rid of it, then don't."
"I think we live in a world of filters," she continued, saying she wanted to be transparent and not be one of those celebrities who attribute their changing looks to drinking "a bunch of water." Mellencamp added, "I'm working really hard to change my life and get healthy, but it's something I couldn't change on my own."

Mellencamp said her plastic surgeon, Dr. Sarmela Sunder told her that the unwanted skin under her neck was due to "a variety of things," including the "anatomical position where [her]...hyoid bone is located," which is based on the "slope" of her neck .
"To the years of fluctuating weight, you know, gaining and losing over 80 pounds, not even with kids before kids, since I was pretty much 17, my body had lost that elasticity," the reality star said.
"So not only did I have this inclination, then I also added loose skin to it and I got to the point where I wanted to angle in certain directions and it became something I didn't want to deal with anymore," she added added . "I was like, 'I work really hard to feel confident, and that's one small thing I can do, and I want to be honest with the people who follow me and tell them the good, the bad, and that give ugly ones.' "Day 4 post op: bruises and still swollen," she added alongside the photos. "At your request, here's the official before and after, cuts and all."

Mellencamp took to Instagram Monday to defend her neck lift decision after receiving critical messages from her followers.
"I'm transparent with my trip," Mellencamp replied. "Would you rather I lie and pretend the loose skin on my neck is gone? That's not me. You only want to follow people who show themselves through a filtered version of themselves, then I'm not the person you should be following."
