Oh it hurts to see ...
A severe storm on the night of April 28th completely decimated a classic dealership, Lakeway Auto Sales, in Paris, Tennessee. Henry County authorities are suspending tornado warnings to residents, but no twisters have been reported. The storm's carnage would have been far worse, but it looks like the classic cars have borne the brunt of the destruction.

The havoc, captured by a local news team, looks absolutely terrible, including a Chevy Tri-Five that was buried under rubble that used to be the structure of the dealership. The rear passenger-side corner of a Corvette can be seen directly behind the Tri-Five. Another photo shows a Chevy truck that was partially buried by rubble from the dealership and apparently no longer stands. It is not clear how much damage was done to one of the cars as all the photos were taken at night and from a distance.

According to local authorities, the entire Lakeway Auto Sales dealership was destroyed in the storm. Unfortunately, 3 houses were also destroyed. Over 40 houses and 10 mobile homes in the area were also damaged, some by falling trees. In the chaos, which seems quite miraculous, however, nobody was seriously injured.
While it is always sad to see such devastation on vintage cars of any kind, the fact that someone's business, the livelihood of them and their employees has been destroyed is even worse. Hopefully the insurance will cover most, if not all, of the damage, but an uncertain future could be ahead of the dealership rebuilding.

First of all, this should remind everyone to check insurance for their collector's cars, whether they are classic or more modern. Disaster can happen at any time, so it is good to be fully prepared. It also doesn't hurt to make sure your garage and workshop have a good fire fighting system in place, along with other safety measures.
