In the months since George Floyd's death by the police, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been particularly highlighted as the comedy follows a faulty police force.
The show ended its seventh season in April, but star Terry Crews said Tuesday that showrunner Dan Goor “had four [new] episodes and just threw them in the trash. We have to start over. At the moment we don't know which direction it will go. "

The crews added that the cast has "had a lot of dark and deep conversations about it and we hope we can do something that will be truly groundbreaking this year. We have a chance here and plan to make the most of it."
The actor called the response to George Floyd's death "Black America's # MeToo Movement".
"We always knew this would happen," he said, "but now the whites understand."
Earlier this month, Goor tweeted a support message for Black Lives Matter stating that he and the cast had contributed $ 100,000 to the National Bail Fund.
