When it comes to recruiting high school athletes, you never know what you're going to get when those kids walk onto campus. Every year there are five Stars who end up a bust and Walk-Ons who end up as Team MVPs.
When it comes to the case of Harold Perkins Jr., it lived up to the hype and more. A five-star recruit straight out of high school, Perkins was the crown jewel of Brian Kelly's first recruit class at LSU.
He was the kind of guy who was expected to show up and start on day one. Jimbo Fisher had nothing but great things to say about Perkins - who committed to the Aggies before eventually joining the Tigers - when he met with the media on Monday.
"Harold is very gifted," Fisher said. "We knew that. As great as he was on defense, you see him in high school and you could argue that he's as good an offensive player as he is a defensive player. I think he averaged 10 yards per carry?
"It was really sporty, sure of the ball. Really good basketball player. You could only see a natural player. He's great at space, at noise, at gaming, at physical condition and he's a really smart young man."
Fisher will see Perkins up close in the Aggies' final game of the season on Saturday.
