MPs Hank Johnson, D-Ga., Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, and Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, chairmen of the Congressional Black Caucus, were also arrested this summer.
The big picture: Green tweeted a video of the police tying a ribbon around his wrist and that of State Representative Ron Reynolds (D) as she and a crowd sang “We Shall Overcome” before the two were taken away.
A group of Texas Democrats fled to Washington, D.C. last month to block the GOP-led election restrictions.
Green told CNN that he hoped "to provide some help by passing federal laws that will help prevent some of the things that could happen in Texas".
The US Capitol Police told CNN officials that they had arrested three protesters for "crowd, obstruction or inconvenience".
What else he says: "We have come to protest the suppressed voting rights across the country," Green told CNN. "It is so important for us to protest for and protect the right to vote."
