‘That’s Stupid’: MLB All-Star Liam Hendriks Rips 'Idiot' U.S. Gun Policies
Chicago White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks said he has found the US gun situation "confusing" since moving here from his native Australia.
“When I was here, I had to take a driving test. I don't have to take a test if I want to get a gun," he said. "That's stupid. Anyone who thought that was a great idea is an idiot."
Hendriks, a two-time All-Star and two-time AL Reliever of the Year, discussed the issue hours after a mass shooting in a Chicago suburb during a July 4 parade killed six people and wounded more than two dozen. He also spoke about how a mass shooting in Australia led to real gun law changes:
"Something has to change. Something must be done. Something has to happen,” said Hendriks. "Because far too many people lose their lives."
Hendriks also spoke about the toll mass shootings take on families and communities:
Hendriks has been outspoken on a number of issues, including last month's Supreme Court ruling that ruled Roe v. Wade picked up.
"I mean, what's next?" he asked. "Are they now going to let women vote too?"
