The $4 Trader Joe’s Purchase That Sparks Joy In My Home Every Day

I'm pretty sure everyone is excited about the flower department at Trader Joe. Nobody can resist the train, can they? Just as I walk into the store, proud to actually go shopping, full of optimism about all the healthy, fresh products I will buy, I walk past the flower department and think to myself, “I deserve a few flowers. I should buy myself a nice treat this week to bring joy. "
Then I reach for the more expensive flowers for a eucalyptus bouquet that costs $ 3.99 total. Sometimes when I'm really feeling I buy two grapes.
It's not just good business: eucalyptus branches are far superior to bouquets. They last like that. a lot of. longer. A typical bunch of eucalyptus will stay alert for no less than three weeks, and even after it begins to cross, the branches will simply dry out, but they will retain most of their color and will not droop. Right now there is a bunch of eucalyptus hanging in my bathroom that has been there for over a month and it still looks beautiful.

Not only does the fragrance add an aesthetically pleasing element to my home, it also has very real benefits. Roses smell nice, but they don't convey the same spa-like, super soothing vibe as these fresh eucalyptus branches. In aromatherapy, eucalyptus essential oils are used to increase focus and promote calm - the fresh material has the same effect. It's also common to put a few drops of oil in a steamer to help combat coughs and other cold symptoms (what, hello, have we ever needed this more than this year?). The scent can also help relieve headaches and repel insects (it's basically a detergent!). It really is a universal addition to your home.
I usually share a bunch of eucalyptus and leave a small vase on my kitchen table to create a particularly nice atmosphere for working from home. The other handful go to my bathroom, where the steam from my shower gives off the scent of eucalyptus and makes every morning something special. When I'm sick or just need a little more pampering, I wrap a small bundle of the twigs in kitchen twine and hang them on my shower head. This way, when the hot water is turned on, it catches the leaves and releases a little more fragrance. If you want to impress a guest this is a very good way to do it.
Wherever I put my monthly eucalyptus pile, I always know it brings a smile to my face and a sense of calm in my brain. I can't resist the pull of a fresh spray of the twigs when I meet Trader Joe's, and I recommend you give in to the pull too.
