The Bears can now franchise tag Allen Robinson

The Chicago Bears and Allen Robinson haven't had contract negotiations since last September, which isn't exactly an encouraging sign of the future of the star-wide receiver in Chicago.
We'll soon see what the bears want to do about the Robinson situation, which could become clear as early as Tuesday. Then NFL teams can designate franchise players. And at this point, it seems like a safe bet that Chicago will give Robinson the day.

Robinson has been silent on the subject of a contract renewal since last September, but with the looming threat of a franchise day, Robinson spoke of his situation with Go Long's Tyler Dunne.
“It would be like telling someone, 'You are qualified for this job. And that's what the other people are doing in this job. But you can't do that, "said Robinson." Nobody in America would do that at all. You see people in America go from job to job every day. They get a job, they fill out another résumé because they are now have the experience. At the same time they go from company to company and raise their salaries. But for players it is almost a defeat between the fans and - for many players, not just me - even the organization and teammates when you get into a situation in which you even have to sign a contract.
"The narrative of the story is so messed up for no reason when the players just want what it's worth."
When asked if he would consider joining Deshaun Watson and Stefon Diggs as players who are trying or forcing a trade out of their respective situations, Robinson said it was "definitely an option".
The bears now have until March 9 to use the franchise day for Robinson before the free agency begins and he can explore the open market.
