The boys are back! The Supes rise again thanks to a new stream for season two of The Boys, which has announced a release date for the Amazon Prime hit superhero series in September and a major change in the release schedule. Spoiler: Not everything comes at once.
Yes, The Boys' second season officially flies through Amazon's streaming service on September 4, though only the first three episodes. The rest are broadcast weekly every Friday.
The announcement (which was released on the cast "The Boys F ** kin 'Reunited" with the entire cast) also included the first three minutes of the second season of The Boys. This teaser, which begins at 47:30 in the video above, was highlighted at a Vought board meeting and was set to music for The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil".
Some fans may have expected a somewhat earlier release date for season two of The Boys, especially if you followed what showrunner Eric Kripke had to say last year.
In conversation with Collider, Kripke hoped that the second season would "fall a full year after the first season, so roughly the same time next year [in July]".
Now it will be September, not July - but that may not come as a surprise when you consider how even post-production is affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In the second season of The Boys, all eight upcoming episode titles were recently released on the Writers Guild of America West website.
"Butchers, bakers, candle makers"
"Nothing comparable in the world"
"Over the hill with the swords of a thousand men"
"Proper preparation and planning"
"The Big Ride"
"The bloody doors out"
"We have to go now"
"What I know"
The first three minutes? Check. Episode title? Check. Release date? Great check. So the parts come together. Prepare your middle fingers: it won't be long before the boys are back in town.
