In 1965, Carroll Shelby began production of the 100 planned Cobras with 427 cid drives and the legendary CSX3000 serial numbers. In October 1966, the CSX3042 was shipped to Grappone Ford in Concord, New Hampshire.
After hearing about the problems plaguing production of the new Cobras and causing them to be discontinued, John Grappone made the decision to keep the car instead of selling it. Ultimately, this decision paid off as it didn't take long for the car to appreciate in value as one of only 27 S / C Cobras produced. According to the story, a Connecticut man named Dan Turman bought the car in 1982 for $ 107,000, making it the last Shelby Cobra to be sold from dealer inventory.
As of recently, the car has been owned by five people, including John Grappone of Grappone Ford. Over the years, it has been modified for races, shows, and just plain preferences. However, the third owner was able to reunite the car with its original Blue Streak tires, adding significant historical value, and its fifth owner, Steven Juliano, brought the car back to its original shape from 2007 onwards. Today the car shows itself in its original form very well with only converted original or NOS parts and was celebrated as a "reference example" with "unequal".
This 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra Roadster is set to roll across the auction floor at Mecum's Indy 2021 auction. The auction opens on May 14th and the CSX3042 is expected to sell for an estimated $ 3.5 million to $ 4 million on May 21st. Don't miss this incredible chance to add an S / C Shelby Cobra with a rich history and only 10,760 original miles to your collection.
