‘The Simpsons’ Producer Richard Sakai Lists Sprawling Mulholland Drive Compound

For the first time since the 1990s, a large area in the mountains high above Beverly Hills was put up for sale. Owned by prolific Emmy-winning television and film producer Richard Sakai ("The Simpsons", "Jerry Maguire"), the nearly three-acre property has two separate houses with two different addresses attached behind two separate gates and one Variety of other resort style amenities.
The famous property is located far from LA's legendary Mulholland Drive on a private back road and is up for grabs in two parts - the larger property (2.5 acres) costs $ 5.995 million, while the smaller house next door costs $ 2.395 million carries price tag.
The larger main residence spans nearly 8,000 square feet and spans three full living levels, starting with a light-flooded main level with high ceilings, dozen of windows, and blonde hardwood floors. Olive green accents and medium brown wood paneling give the interior, which surrounds a Byzantine floor plan, a kitchen with standard stainless steel appliances, a master suite with a massive terrace and a long view over the San Fernando Valley (four) additional bedrooms on the lower level of the house and a screening room in the basement.
Originally built in 1959, the sprawling building has been converted into a ranch-style property with a quasi Japanese design twist. This motif extends to the grounds, which have walkways lined with thick bamboo walls, as well as a pagoda-style guest house with window walls and a fully equipped kitchen. Other areas include a sports field, children's playground, vegetable gardens, fruit trees and a lagoon-style pool.
As for the single-story ranch house next door, the listing describes this property as a "fixer or demolition" and does not include photos of the interiors, though the flat, half-acre lot includes a large swimming pool and a sizable strip of grass lawn and valley views in particular .
Should they approach the total price of $ 8.4 million for both properties, Sakai and his fashion designer Amber will literally kill. Records show he picked up the houses - the larger one in 1998, the smaller one a few years later - for a relatively meager $ 3.8 million.
Douglas Elliman's Juliette Hohnen and Annie Stewart hold the listings.
