The Suicide Squad: James Gunn tells fans “you’re gonna freak out” about John Cena's character

James Gunn's Suicide Squad sequel, The Suicide Squad, is still a long way from getting on screens. But that didn't stop us from theorising on every detail. Wrestling royalty John Cena can be seen in the film, and although his character remains a mystery, Gunn has assured us that we will "freak out how great John Cena is".
Responding to a fan on Twitter who suggested some characters that Cena could play - including Bane, Deathstroke and Solomon Grundy - the director said, "A little late for the suggestions since we finished filming in February, but still Thank you. 'I'm going to freak out how great John Cena in The Suicide Squad is as the character he plays ... "

We're not placing our bets yet, but any of these suggestions could lead to incredible action. Cena himself was predictably tense when he talked about his role and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel said earlier this year, "I can't confirm or deny anything about Suicide Squad." The DC people always watch. "
In Gunn's sequel, Harley Quinn by Margot Robbie, Amanda Waller by Viola Davis, and others will return, along with some new faces, including Taika Waititi, Idris Elba, and Storm Reid. With the film set for 2021, we could very well get a first look at some footage in DC's upcoming FanDome event taking place this August.
In the meantime, David Ayer, who headed the first suicide squad, has promoted the release of his own director's cut. Ayer said: “My cut would be easy to complete. It would be incredibly cathartic for me. “What are the chances for two teams in 2021?
