Tom Parker, a singer with British boy band The Wanted, said he and his family were "utterly devastated" after learning he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Parker, 32, revealed in an Instagram post Monday morning that he and his wife, Kelsey Hardwick, had been quieter than usual on social media while undergoing medical treatment.
"We're all absolutely devastated, but we'll fight it all the way," he wrote in a caption to a photo of himself, Hardwick, and her daughter Aurelia Rose. "We don't want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatments. It will be an uphill battle, but with everyone's love and support we will strike." This."
Parker first shared his medical news with UK outlet OK! Magazine in which he said he was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma after two seizures over the summer.
Stage four cancer indicates that the cancer has spread to other, more distant parts of the body, according to the National Cancer Institute. Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain tumor, is the same disease that killed Senator John McCain in 2018.
"After much deliberation, instead of going into hiding and trying to keep it a secret, we decided to have an interview where we can put all the details in and let everyone know the facts in our own way," said Parker in his post.
The Wanted, a UK-based band comprised of singers Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes and Parker, formed in 2009 and was prior to their announcement for hits like "Glad You Came" and "Walks Like Rihanna "announced their split in 2014.

In 2013 the band played in an E! Reality show about her career called "The Wanted Life". Parker was described at the time as a musician who "has a strong opinion about where the band should go, which often gets him in the water with his bandmates".
Parker and Hardwick married in 2018 and welcomed their first child last year. The couple announced in the summer that they would be expecting a second baby in November.
