As someone in my thirties, I'm trapped somewhere between the inevitability of aging and willingness to sell my soul in exchange for eternal youth and a portrait I'll happily hide in my attic. I'm working on the wrinkles of my relationship with my changing face, but it's a struggle between you, me, and the fine lines that quickly form around my eyes.
I have become a magpie for any product that is marketed with buzz words like "rejuvenation" or "anti-aging". When I came across Maritime Naturals Retinol Moisturizer on Amazon, a product that describes itself as a “facelift in a glass”, my curiosity overwhelmed me.

Just in time for Boxing Day, Maritime Naturals offers customers the opportunity to save more than 30% on a large 120 ml jar of their retinol moisturizer. Now is the perfect time to try this hugely popular product from Amazon Canada for a cheaper price. But hurry up, this deal ends at 11:55 p.m. PST, so if you want to try it, it's quickest.
What is it?
Maritime Naturals is a Canadian company based in Nova Scotia that makes 100% organic and cruelty-free skin care products. The brand's Professional Retinol Moisturizer contains 2.5% retinol, plant-based hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and a variety of natural and plant-based oils such as Glyceryl Stearate SE and Isopropyl Palmitate.

The moisturizer, with more than 4,300 customer reviews, is recommended for all skin types. The brand recommends using as a moisturizer twice a day (morning and evening) and applying to the face, eye area, neck and décolleté (low neckline) to minimize wrinkles, fine lines, acne, pores and eczema.
My experience
I was reluctant to introduce retinol into my skin care regimen because my previous experiences with a retinol serum dried out my skin. However, the fact that there were so many natural moisturizing ingredients (aloe and jojoba) sold me when I introduced them into my daily routine.

I started using the retinol cream twice a day as directed, introducing the moisturizer as the last step in my nightly routine which consists of washing my face at night with Cetaphil and Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser, followed by Son and Park's Beauty Water as a toner and one of my new favorite serums, the Organic Beauty Facial Oil from Honest Beauty. In the morning, I applied the moisturizer with my sunscreen after applying two drops of vitamin C serum.

After using the retinol moisturizer twice a day for a week, I decided to cut the retinol off my morning routine after noticing my skin looked a little dry. After three weeks, I used the retinol cream at night and while I didn't notice any drastic changes in the fine lines around my eyes, I noticed that my skin tone had improved, causing discoloration under my eyes and the appearance of pores around my nose is less noticeable when I'm not wearing makeup.
What others say
Before I made my purchase, I decided to find out what other Amazon buyers have to say about the Retinol Moisturizer. There have been many reviews from women who, while not disclosing their age, attributed an overall improvement in skin texture to Maritime Rituals.

"After using this moisturizer for over three months, I must say that both my complexion and skin texture have improved," wrote one shopper. “One area that stands out is my cleavage. The crepiness has decreased and the skin looks and feels smoother. The ingredients speak for themselves and are so much cheaper than comparable products. "

“After looking through this tub of moisturizer, I am delighted with the products from this company. I have never received so many compliments on my skin. I apply it at night and the next day my skin is always so soft. I didn't see drastic results right away, but read online that it can take a few months for 1% retinol (aka no clinical dosage) to work, so I stuck with it, ”wrote another. “Sure, after a few months, I heard a lot of comments about how good my skin looked. It really works if you stick with it. I just ordered the Retinol Serum and Vitamin C Serum to try them out too! I just wish this company made eye cream and sunscreen! "
judgment
While I haven't experienced the effects of a "facelift in a jar," I think Maritime Naturals' retinol moisturizer is a great option for anyone looking for a vegan, cruelty-free skin care product that doesn't break the bank. My skin feels hydrated, soft to the touch, and the improved skin tone was an unexpected but welcome result that was enough to make it worth buying.

If you really want to turn back the clock on your skin, I would advise exploring your options with a dermatologist and developing a routine that suits your skin care goals and budget.
However, if you are comfortable with using retinol products, Maritime Naturals is definitely an affordable option, especially now during Boxing Day.
