‘This Is Us’ Writer Jas Waters’ Cause of Death Made Public
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has published the cause of the death of the writer Jas Waters "This Is Us".
According to the coroner's report released on Thursday, Waters' specific cause of death was "hanging", which was classified as suicide.
Waters was the author of the second season of "This Is Us". Her other TV credits include Comedy Central's "Hood Adjacent With James Davis", VH1's "The Breaks" and most recently "Kidding" on Showtime. She also has a "History of" credit on the Taraji P. Henson feature "What Men Want".
In a statement Wednesday after her death, Dan Fogelman, the creator of "This Is Us", remembered Waters as a "brilliant" writer and storyteller. "Jas was absolutely brilliant and had so many stories to tell," he said. "She shaped our show indelibly and my heart breaks for her loved ones."

Before working as a screenwriter, Waters, who also worked for JasFly, was a columnist for Vibe magazine.
"The entire #ThisIsUs family was devastated to learn that Jas Waters had passed away," the authors of "This Is Us" said in a joint statement on Wednesday. “In our time together, Jas left us and the whole show their traces. She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathy to their loved ones. She was one of us. RIP @JasFly. "
