This Resurfaced Megan Fox Interview Is Proof That All of Hollywood Owes Her an Apology

It's sad to say, but Hollywood has glorified and exploited women for ages. And, unfortunately, Megan Fox was no exception. What made it worse are the inappropriate remarks made in the media and on television to and by women, especially Fox, when they came up or raised concerns and uncomfortable concerns.
A prime example of this is Fox 2009 Jimmy Kimmel Live! Interview in which she mentioned her role in Bad Boys 2. Their conversation went something like this: "I was wearing a stars and stripes bikini and a red cowboy hat and six inch heels, and he [Director Michael Bay] approved it. You said Michael, she's 15, so you can't sit her at the bar and she can't have a drink in her hand, "she told host Jimmy Kimmel.
Bay's alcohol-free solution? Have Fox pose and dance under a waterfall. “I was in 10th grade,” she quipped. "It's kind of a microcosm of how Bay's mind works."
Kimmel's answer immediately made the crowd laugh, despite its disgusting undertone. "Well, this is really a microcosm of how all of our heads work," he said, downplaying the situation; a situation Fox was obviously uncomfortable with. "Some of us have the decency to suppress these thoughts and pretend they don't exist."
More than a decade later, the video made the rounds again, and not only has it revived our belief that there is a catastrophic problem of underage sexualization in Hollywood, but that the industry as a whole owes Fox a major apology.
Last June, Fox posted a statement on Instagram regarding her resurfaced interview with Kimmel.
The five-slide post illustrated the bigger picture of her professional relationship with Bay and the Bad Boys 2 and Transformers crews. She also touched on the demolition culture and the names that were to reappear. Fox didn't point a finger at Bay.
"These specific cases were inconsequential in a long and arduous journey through which I had some really harrowing experiences in a ruthlessly misogynistic industry. There are many names out there that deserve to go viral in the demolition culture right now, but they are safe in of the fragmented hollows of my heart, "she wrote.
Fox has been underrated and abused by Hollywood and the public for far too long, but at least people are finally starting to speak up for her. It wasn't until this past weekend that Emily Ratajkowski slammed the way Fox was treated in the movie This Is 40. Fox plays an escort in the Judd Apatow film, and Ratajkowski pointed out that in this role, not only was Fox treated badly, but the film itself doesn't age well either.
However, Fox fans have long stood by her, calling for justice for her mistreatment. From time to time, additional messages will appear on Twitter indicating that everyone (but mostly Hollywood) owes Fox an apology and should be committed to their work.
Fox even brought up her abuse in Hollywood, aside from her Instagram statement, though she hesitated to do so during the #MeToo movement a few years ago when her colleagues shared their stories. In an open interview with the New York Times, Fox said she was afraid of being ashamed of herself as a victim and of not getting her stories accepted. Fox recalled her time on Bad Boys 2 and another time when Bay allegedly told her to be 'hotter' or 'sexier' while filming and said, 'I just didn't think about how I got off the People and feminists that I would be a compassionate victim. "
And that's perhaps more disappointing than anything else - that Fox felt like she couldn't even bring up her own traumatic stories and let her coworkers comfort him. But the world is learning that these issues are still rampant and that Fox, like so many other people, owes so many excuses from Hollywood.
